Bimbo Rebanadas Toast with Sweet Cream
This snack from our friends in Mexico is like a marshmallow sandwich in between two thin pieces of stale, buttery toast. It’s addictively tasty but also contains a bunch of harmful ingredients.
Food that is past the sell-by date or “expired” often ends up at the food bank and that’s how I’m able to taste test stuff that I would never buy at the store or have access to. Have to admit I had one bite of this and then threw it out.
I never feel bad about giving out free junk food snacks at the end of meal service. I’m on a mission to feed homeless people and not poison them, but we’re on a limited budget and offerings at the food bank are often in the processed junk snack category.
If you just got served a free nutritious meal and then go out the door with an apple and a pack of pan dulce tostado that’s a blessing.
Fun fact: Bimbo USA is the largest bakery corporation in the United States.
