Drowning in a Whiskey River in 1890
Love this bit of ephemera from 1897 where a Whiskey merchant William C. Biles Godfrey Halterhoff apologizes for a late payment to the Standard Shorthand Typing Office. These days (134 years later) Whiskey is still with us but typists and stenographers have become obsolete outside of anywhere but a court room setting.
“Dear Sirs:- We drank too much and forgot to pay you on time for your typewriter services” is the most 1890s themed business to business letter ever.
