Emerald City Pantry is looking for food bank help! Our food bank and Community Fridge programs are feeding over 2000 people a month and our cooking program is serving over 200 meals a week to Tent City 3 and several Tiny House Villages, LIHI projects and we’re also supporting the South Seattle Senior Center and a program teaching cooking to low income youth at Aki Kurose middle school.
We have our Weds and Sat events at Rainier Playfield. Set up starts at 10:30, events are typically done and packed up by 2:00. We can use folks with a car to help bring supplies to the market and return after. At the market we need help setting up canopies, unloading delivery vehicles, setting up, displaying donations, managing tables for shoppers. After is cleanup, returning canopies, coolers etc., to storage. We need at minimum a 2 hour commitment.
We also have our Community Fridge project. Can use some help monitoring the fridge for shoppers. Currently Fridays from 4-6. May have some other days.
Drivers with SUVs, truck or other preferably roomy car to help pick up at various PCCs ( Seattle supermarket chain).
With the holidays we have extra need for help as we have a lot of additional donation pickups. Pickups can be from Seattle to Bellevue, can be any weekday or weekend.
Volunteers are also allowed to shop for great yummy groceries!
Thanks for thinking of us!
