A relatively new donor (at my day job) has been coming at least once a week with fresh fruit and vegetables, shelf stable goods and other stuff. There always seems to be a case of moldy tomatoes or other long past edible foods in the mix but I just throw that in the yard waste. Food bank donations have been sparse lately and this act of charity is greatly appreciated. It’s awesome to see retired people donating their time and money to a good cause.
Today a random guy showed up and said “I have some King’s Hawaiian rolls to give you.” We never turn this sort of thing down. We ended up with six large cases of bread. The worst case scenario is that we don’t use it all before it goes moldy.
Not to beat a dead horse here but we all know that charity is like putting a bandage on a gaping wound - it does not fix the underlying flaws in our predatory society that create homelessness and hunger.
