Here Comes the Nickelsville Night Out Pasta Party!
Nirvana Wok will be preparing spaghetti and meatball dinners at the Nickelsville Summer fundraiser on Tuesday, August 3. You can dine at the block party or take your meals to go.
I didn’t ask to be on the poster but whoever designed it called me “chef Alex” and that will now stick for all eternity.
We’ll attempt to serve 100 meals using two outdoor propane burners, an induction cooker and a hodgepodge of other gear. The food will all be prepped in advance which will make things a little easier. Dunking pre-cooked pasta is not ideal but this is not Chez Panisse it’s a block party. Any leftover meals will be distributed in Seattle that night.
The first Tuesday in August is usually when police sponsor National Night Out parties “designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, increase neighborhood support in anti-crime efforts, and unite our communities.” Nickelsville Night Out is not affiliated with the Seattle Police Department’s neighborhood events but we’d love to see some SPD officers drop by for hearty servings of homemade spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread and a cucumber salad made with fresh dill. A love for this kind of food is something we all have in common.
