Is "Van" Still Alive?
My claim to fame is that I designed a logo that ended up on a van, owned by a guy named Van. Down by the river. Down by a lake, actually, but close enough.
There is — or was — an eccentric man in our neighborhood that used my associate Robert’s delivery service, 2Go Services, which is how I knew about him. This person never left their pigeon-filled house, or shaved or bathed. He looked like a gritty hobbit. He would occasionally be seen in his yard using a weed eater. There was a Trump sign up there for a while - unusual in Seattle.
He would order the weirdest stuff from 2Go Services - nine packs of watermelon flavored Kool-Aid … three toaster ovens. Van came from a wealthy family and had some sort of income from a trust. He spent a lot of money at 2Go Services. It’s almost as if Robert was exploiting a mentally ill person by having him as a client. Or maybe he was just helping someone that nobody else would deal with.
I haven’t seen Van in about a year and he’s definitely not puttering around doing yard work any more. And Robert is dead (see below).
There is a van on Van’s front lawn that Robert must have sold him. If you look closely you can see the 2Go Services logo on the back.

My friend Robert passed away last year of a sudden heart attack. I worked for him, for decades, doing graphic design for his food delivery business. I designed his logo, still in use today, at three in the morning, on a cocktail napkin, as was my M.O. in the early 1990s.
