A new member of the family showed up recently - Bibi! She’s a year-old Jack Russell Terrier / Chihuahua mix, we think.
And no - we did not name Bibi after one of the world’s most notorious war criminals.
Her story is that our teen and her friends, including a classmate named Habibi, found her one night and brought her to our house. Habibi is an Arabic word that means “my love, sweetheart, darling or beloved.” Habibi (the person) was expelled from school shortly thereafter and sent to live with his grandparents in California and I think that’s good for everyone involved except maybe the grandparents.
Bibi belonged to a person living on the streets who has mental health issues. She kept getting away and ending up loose. Her owner was too unstable to be able to take care of her.
Bibi is the first dog we’ve had in a while that knows how to fetch … and growl while pulling on a toy. She doesn’t jump up on you. Very smart pup.
Ralphie is 14 now and on the way out. The other dogs are old and grey too. Time for a replacement.
In a world gone mad, we need the joy that dogs provide.
