Three photos from my daily walk around the neighborhood where I work. In the first shot you can see a baseball hat with a logo for Curt Cobain’s rock band Nirvana. Oh the irony.
The second picture was a guy revived from the brink of death with Narcan by first responders, a block away. In the third — ten feet away from the Nirvana hat folks on my way back from witnessing the Narcan incident — blissful fentanyl-induced sleep.
Apparently the high from smoking fentanyl (don’t bother shooting it or you will die) is more intense than heroin but does not last as long and then you feel like shit after, obviously.
I never see addicts on the street that are as old as me - not even close. There’s a reason you don’t see ancient William S. Burroughs type of junkie guys out there or even people in their forties and I think you can guess what that reason is.
