Remembering Rick Klu
The last time I saw Rick Klu he was smoking Marlboros.
Not something someone who wants to live does when they are in their 50s.
Klu co-starred in a couple of my shot on video movies.
He was a bad artist. There. I’ve said it. His self-taught art was all about hot rods and skulls and doodling on bar coasters. And it never evolved. One definition of an insane person is that they do the same thing over and over again without modifying or changing their behavior.
Beloved by all, Klu was a lounge lizard, although I never saw him drunk or drugged.
Once Facebook came along you could see by his posts that he suffered from depression.
He moved to Los Angeles with my pal Scotty Crane (!) at one point and was an extra on TV shows like House M.D. and acted in some commercials. Amazingly, he also worked as an assistant for legendary filmmaker Errol Morris.
