Marie’s Plant-Based Creamy Dill Ranch
Read the ingredients, not the slogans on the label, is the lesson of this salad dressing.
“Unapologetically creamy favorite without the dairy! It’s vegan and gluten-free too.”
Marie’s ranch may be vegan, but the first ingredient on the list is soy (not great) and there is also soybean oil (bad), magnesium chloride and calcium chloride.
Too sweet. Weird aftertaste.
The Marie’s brand was recently acquired by a private equity firm so look for their products to get worse, if that is possible.
Whole Foods Organic Green Goddess Dressing
Surprisingly good, although it’s a little too sweet, much like hundreds of other common processed foods found at American supermarkets. The sweetness comes in part from agave syrup, not sugar, which is a nice touch.
All the ingredients are on the level except for “Natural Flavors,” which could mean anything.
Ingredients: Organic Expeller Pressed Sunflower Seed Oil, Water, Organic Avocado Puree, Organic Cultured Buttermilk (Organic Lowfat Milk, Organic Nonfat Milk, Sea Salt), Organic Agave Syrup, Organic Lemon Juice Concentrate, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Sea Salt, Organic Brown Rice Syrup, Organic Garlic Puree (Organic Garlic, Organic Distilled White Vinegar), Organic Lime Juice, Organic Distilled White Vinegar, Organic Dehydrated Green Bell Peppers, Organic Parsley, Xanthan Gum, Organic Onion Powder, Organic Garlic Powder, Organic Black Pepper, Organic Freeze-dried Chives, Natural Flavors.
Whole Foods is, of course, owned by Amazon, and the largest block of shares in Amazon is controlled by the Bezos family.

I never buy salad dressing unless out in the sticks with no other options. I do add sugar to my dressing and sometimes honey or left over home made jam…you know when you still have some in the jar but want Marionberry on your morning toast instead of left over Raspberry .. So good and even with sweetness .. But Balsamic a good one will be sweet enough for me. I use EVOO, Dijon, salt, very good white vinegar from PFI and some sweetness whip it up or put I. A jar and shake the shit out of it. I don’t understand the fear of soy my bust has not gotten bigger😇😇😇
The New York Times has published a number of recipes for salad dressing, few ingredients. We like Craig ClIrborne's Blue Cheese Dressing recipe. No more aged bottles going gross in fridge door.
