The Whole World Has Gone Barn Sour
I blame smart phones
I work in a newspaper factory so I was lucky enough to be one of the first civilians to get a copy of Barn Sour.
Barn Sour is a comics newspaper about mutual aid.
Underground comics. Indie publishing on newsprint. Mutual aid. A trifecta of things I have been interested in for half a century.
Had to look up the phrase Barn Sour and yeah that’s equine terminology for a horse that refuses to leave the barn because they’re too comfortable and cozy in there.

The barn sour metaphor is perfect for this moment. There's something genuinely subversive about mutual aid getting documented in newsprint form, almost like the medium itself is part of the statement. I've been watching this shift where people are rediscovering tangible, distributable formats because digital platforms have become so controled and algorithmic. A physical newspaper about mutual aid sidesteps the whole moderation and deplatforming mess entirely, which feels intentional.
How many copies did they print, and where am I going to find this FREE newspaper?
