These Birds Made Me Look Like a Jive Turkey
Boy was I proud of myself for scoring five donated turkeys … and obviously in denial about how much work they would be. Four days to defrost, three-plus hours to cook and then meat-picking. And I don’t even like turkey.
Not enough bird meat to serve 150 customers so I decided on stew. Added carrots, onions, a couple jars of chipotle-flavored chicken stock, potatoes and spices.
Got good reports on how tasty this was - served over rice with cole slaw on the side. Unfortunately, I didn’t make enough. I keep forgetting that we need three deep hotel pans full of our entree for a proper serving of 150. So they had to break out the spam or canned soup or something.
