A donation of several cases of wild rice came in. Added celery, onions, garlic, butter and spices. Served with fish sticks, corn. Had ingredients for an elaborate salad but someone accidentally unplugged the refrigerator the night before and I lost them all. Canned corn to the rescue.
Local burger chain Dick’s contributed cheeseburgers, so our customers had those too.

Beautiful shot of the wild rice! I read the Dick’s link. Thank you for including that. I knew Mr. Spady had an incredibly wonderful attitude about humanity and feeding/caring; but his Obituary filled in a lot. Puts me to mind of Mr. Clifton of Los Angeles. Same type of approach to society’s needs. I’d advise your readers to look him up. He made a real difference and demonstrated that one can run a number of establishments, feed people (which of course improves society) and make a comfortable profit. He had a chain of Cafeterias. Some were “full price” which charged the going rate. He had two that were Penny Meals and if you didn’t have a penny…go around the corner to his: Pay What You Wish Cafetería and you can eat for free. All of this and he was a highly successful businessman. The West Coast Mob tried to muscle in on him. Big Mistake. Thx for feeding folks, Al.
Pix of Dick’s?
